Animal and Ethical Approval
Journal of Biomedicine and Biochemistry (JBB)
The use of laboratory animals in any article submitted to JBB must comply with the ethics governing the use of animals in scientific work. JBB does not publish manuscripts that fail to include a statement on the protection of animal rights.
Normally, the journal requires a statement confirming that the research was reviewed by an Institutional Review Board, included either in the Materials and Methods section or in the Acknowledgments section of the manuscript. JBB encourages authors to report the registry number of the council certification.
If a manuscript is based on an in vivo experiment, authors must ensure this approval is documented, as its absence may result in rejection. All live animals used for a study are considered experimental animals, and the Methods section must indicate that adequate measures were taken to minimize pain or discomfort.
Experiments should be carried out following the guidelines laid down by the National Committee for Research Ethics in Science and Technology (NENT) and in accordance with local laws and regulations.
All studies using human or animal subjects should include an explicit statement in the Materials and Methods section identifying the review and ethics committee approval for each study, where applicable.
Editors reserve the right to reject papers if there is doubt as to whether appropriate procedures have been used.
